This morning, I spent sometime telling Joe some Taiwan's history,
it helped to improve my English.

Afternoon, Joe and Siet took us to the mountain,
which name is Mt.Kangarahake
and have a hike,
but I think it's more like adventure,
although Joe and Siet is 65 and 64 years old,
they still can walk very quickly.

We walk along the river, the water of it is from Waihi,
it's has no polution,
people before use pipe to get the water from the mountain.

In the 19 century,
there are gold ore in the mountain,
but it was over about 100 years ago,
I can't believe that they could build so many building in the mountain.

There are some mines in the mountain,
some we can enter,
Joe took us into to the mine,
it was dark inside,(Joe told us to bring the light)
the water even dropped when we were walking,
sometimes we can see some small light on the top,
Joe told me that it was Glow warms,
it will become an insect that looks like mosquito.

Walking in the path,
we could saw some pipes,
some are broken,
if someone go to other side,
and I stay at this side,
he speaks, then I can hear his sound.

Near the path, there are many ferns,
one of them called Silver Fern,
it's silver in it's back
you can see it on the sport shirts of the NZ Rugbt team,
it's beautiful!

I had to pay for this walk--my shoes are full of muds!

There are only 9 degrees centigrade,
it's really cold,
but Joe take a shower at the morning, it's amazing, isn't it ?

We had porridge and toast for breakfast this morning,
they are convenient, I like it!

After breakfast, we took a look at the farm with Joe,
before that we wore the gumboots,
it's easier to walk in the mud,
we first fed the chicken of his neighbor(because his neighbor is sick),
and then we went to the garage,
there are a tractor and a camping car, we drove the tractor to the farm,
we stick some hay and gave it to the cows.

The fence that stop the cow from escaping has power on it,
it's 36 v.

Joe then drive us to his friend's farm,
to showed us some calves, they borned for only a few days,

Joe 's friend taught us to put our fingers in the calves' mouth,
and then they would suck our fingers,
it was a little itch, and our hands are full of their saliva.

We went back home, at home,
Siet told us that she and Joe were from Holland,
people there don't speak English,
they speak Friesian and Dutch,
and Friesian is also the name of one kind of cows,
which has black and white spot.

This afternoon, we went to watch a Rugby game,

the players are all very strong,
I would never want to plat the Rugby with them.

Today is our first to go to homestay,
in the afternoon, Mr.Price drove us to Paeroa college(some of us were taken to KatiKati),
we all waiting for our homepa and homema to take us home,
just like orphan.

Finally, our homepa, Joe, came, he told us that he is a farmer,
his farm is 5 kms away from the town,
after a while, we arrive our house,
it's a one-store building, there is a garden around it,
and beside it is our farm,
Joe said that he only keeps cows, but no horse or sheep(he is retired now).
We park the car at the garage in the basement,
at there, we saw our homema, Siet,
she is a kind woman with a glasses.
They took us to our room,
I was surprised that the handle of the doors in the house are higher than those in Taiwan,
and then they showed us around the house,
we found that in the living room there is a table of pool-ball.

Tonight, we had curry for dinner,
the meal of NZ family are really simple and easy,
you don't have to spend too much time to prepare.

After dinner, we had some food that was mixed with apple mash, milk and biscuit.
We did the dishes after dinner,
we were really surprised that NZ people wash the dishes by putting the dishes in the sink,
and pour some hot water in it, add some cleanser, brush them,
after that you just dry it with a towel,
they don't flush it with water again,
they said that cleanser is natural, and the hot water can kill the germs.

In the middle of the living room, there is a stove,
which we can only see in the story.

The door in NZ have no lock,
so you have to knick the door before you enter the room,
especially lavatory.XD

We started running this morning,
the wind is strong outside, just like typhoon,
but it's comfortable to run in the wind.

We had class today,
in order to help us to know the life in NZ more.

At night, we learned Maori dance--Haka,
it's the lyrics under:

Ka Mate Ka Mate
Ka Ora Ka Ora
Ka Mate Ka Mate
Ka Ora Ka Ora
Tenei te tangata Puhuru huru
Nga nai tiki mai whaka whiti te ra
A-upane A-kupane A-upanekupane
White te ra

In NZ before, there are many tribes,
they often had argue with others,
so when two tribes meet, they danced Haka,
to let other know thatI'm strong,
if you are good, I can be your friend,
but you are bad, you must be careful.
There are many kinds of HAKA.
In Maori culture, only men can stretch their tongues.

before, Maori ate human,
but they had many rules,
for example:
only the man you killed at the battle could be eaten,
and only the man who killed him can eat him,
and when they stretched their tongue,
it's means they are not only kille you
but also eat you,
It goes wuthout saying that they don't eat people anymore.

We went to visit the kiwi fruit farm of the begining of this morning,
People pick the kiwi fruits from May, at July, they are picked up already,

but there are still some in the trees,
people in New Zealand eat kifi fruit with their skin, thet don't peel it, it's quiet different from what we do in Taiwan.

Later, we went to the beach, but unfortunately, the water was raising at that time,
only a little space hadn't covered by the water,
the sand there is black, because they are Fe3+ in it, you can attracts it with a magnet.
(the black sand)

In the country of New Zealand, you can see many cows, there are two kinds of cows, one is Jersey, another is Fresian.
Jersey is brown, and Fresian is black and white. ,

Afternoon, we went to the supermarket in the town, I asked Mr.Price what that if there is something worth to by,
and he showed me some cookies, chocolate, and juice,
there are one kind of soda juice called FEIJOA, it's a name of fruit, it don't appear in Taiwan,
taste like wine, but there isn't any alcohol in it.
I found that chips in New Zealand is much better than those n Taiwan.
(yummy!!!)

This afterroon, We started our first horsemanship lesson,
when we arrived at the stable, a horse's smell (it's should be the smell of horse's poo XD ).
Evereyone got one horse, and mine horse's name is"Colorodo", he's a boy ,
after we got on the horse, we tried to make them move, we had tried Chinese,Enlish, and even Taiwanese,
but they seldom listened to us, Mr.Price toid us that the horse and I are together,
if you want it move, you have to have a momement first, you have to move your bum,
and then they will understand what you mean, and so is turn right and left.
After we knew how to control, we had a ride to the hill, it's a lot of fun,
but your bum will be uncomfortable. I thought my horse is quiet naught,
it's wanted to bend down his head to eat grass,
(if you let him do, he will think that you are weak, you will not be able to control it any more)

, (= =)
so I pulled him, but he's too powerful, just kept eating, the only thing I can do is to pull.
Horses are big, and their poo is a lot too.

(don't watch it when you eatXD)

(North island map)
(South island map)
6.Waihi

1、Katikati college簡介
2、Katikati college
3、Paeroa college
